The experience and the views were unforgettable. After meeting in the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront (close to the bridge leading to the Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island) we were briefed by our guide and skipper, who made us all feel very relaxed. Once out at sea, I had a full view of the Atlantic including the entire west coast mountain range including Devils Peak, Table Mountain, Lions Head, Signal Hill, Twelve Apostles and Karbonkelberg. And as if that wasn’t impressive enough, then you turn around and see Robben Island! During our trip, we saw dolphins, whales, penguins and loads of jelly and sunfish. At one point we stopped, switched off the engine to listen to the loud splashing of the whales. It was an exhilarating experience, great for any age, and I find it’s the type of tour one could do more than once as you never know what to expect next.
