Victoria Falls Zimbabwe

As one of Africa’s most iconic travel destinations Victoria Falls should form part of any safari to Zimbabwe or Zambia. The mighty Zambezi River plunges over 100 meters into the gorge below the falls creating a mist spray and thunder that can be heard and seen from miles away. It is one of the seven wonders of the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an adventure lovers playground. There’s gorge swinging, white water rafting, bungee jumping, heli flights and a whole lot more to enjoy during your stay in Vic Falls. While on safari in Victoria Falls a cruise on the Zambezi river will bring an unforgettable end to a day of game viewing and adventure activities. Lake Kariba

Lake Kariba is a gem in Zimbabwe’s safari crown. Over 5000 square kilometers of water from the mighty Zambezi has been dammed for the last 65 years. Its sheer size makes you forget this is the largest man made lake on earth – as it really feels like you are on the ocean! It is perfect for houseboat safaris, fishing and offers excellent game viewing along its shores.

Mana Pools National Park

Mana Pools is a UNESCO World Heritage site for good reason. Situated along the banks of the Zambezi River in North eastern Zimbabwe it is a game lovers paradise. Its wild and untamed and famous for its elephants and wild dogs. Enjoy some of the best game viewing and walks in Zimbabwe from your base at Hideaways Mana Pools Safari Lodge.

Hwange National Park

Hwange is Zimbabwe’s oldest and largest national park. Its is big five territory with massive herds of elephant and buffalo as well as high concentrations of lions. With over 105 mammal species as well as eight large carnivore species, expect world-class game viewing whilst on safari in Hwange National Park.

The Highlights of Zimbabwe Package departs from Victoria Falls. Whilst it is our every intention to adhere to the above mentioned itinerary, there may on occasion be a necessity to make alterations in order to make the tour more enjoyable or practical. Therefore please treat the itinerary as a guide only.

Transport

JENMAN Safaris uses fully equipped Toyota Land Cruisers, Sprinters and 12-seater 4×4 Safari vehicles (Chosen vehicle determined by JENMAN African Safaris).

Meals

Meals included in your safari will be taken in the restaurants at the various accommodation establishments. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements in advance.

Visas

The onus is on the client to organize all visas required to visit Zimbabwe.

Day 8: Rovos Rail
Upon your arrival at Pretoria train station, you will be met and showed to your private carriage. Lunch is served as the train travels north through Warmbaths and Nylstroom. Enjoy an afternoon tea and dinner en route to Messina and Beitbridge.

Day 9: Rovos Rail
Spend the day at luxuriating in old-world glamour as your train winds its way through the changing countryside. Savour a drink in the open-air observation car, make use of the library, enjoy classic board and card games – or head to your suite for a much-welcome afternoon nap. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served as you travel towards Bulawayo via West Nicholson. The train makes an on board, overnight stop at Mpopoma.

Day 10: Rovos Rail
Enjoy breakfast as the train departs Mpopoma. The afternoon is spent travelling along the eastern edge of Hwange Park while enjoying a delicious lunch. In the mid afternoon, venture out and set off for a game drive at The Hide in Hwange National Park. En route to Thompsons Junction for the overnight stop, dinner is served.

Day 11: Tour ends
In the morning, enjoy a scrumptious breakfast before disembarking at Victoria Falls Station.

Highlights of Zimbabwe Map
On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport you will be met and transferred to your accommodation, where you will spend the next two nights. The rest of the day will be at your leisure, to relax beside the pool or participate in in some of the optional activities available.
Today you will take a guided tour of the mighty Victoria Falls and have the rest of the afternoon at your leisure to explore the town or participate in the various optional activities available. In the late afternoon you will enjoy a spectacular sunset cruise on the Zambezi River.
After breakfast you will depart to Victoria Falls Airport, where you will embark on your light air transfer flight to Mana West Airstrip. The next two nights will be spent on safari in Mana Pools National Park where you can enjoy a number of included game and wildlife activities. The life-giving power of the mighty Zambezi River makes for an unforgettable safari experience at Mana Pools. This is one of Zimbabwe’s most diverse and beautiful landscapes and the region is designated as a World Heritage Site. It is also known as one of the premier game viewing destinations on the continent.  Guided canoe trips on the Zambezi are offered year-round and provide a unique way to view the amazing game along the river.
Game Drives in Mana Pools: You will enjoy an exceptional safari drive through the bush at Mana Pools. The riverine forest is dense and makes for some great viewing especially of buffalo and elephant. One can easily feel the magic of the Zimbabwe bush come alive. Under the expert leadership of your professional Zimbabwe guide you will discover a number of mammal species as well as getting to understand the complex ecology of the area. Game Walks at Mana: Mana on foot is an invitation for adventure and immersion into the delicate nature of the region. It’s a small park but it holds big treasures. Exploring of foot gets you close up and personal with the wildlife on offer. It’s super exciting to track animals on foot with your armed guide. Sundowner Cruise on the Zambezi: Chasing sunsets is an activity highly encouraged when in Zimbabwe. Sipping and cruising upon the Zambezi River just before dusk is a sure way to succeed in capturing an African sunset on camera that is imprinted in your memory.
This morning you will take a light air transfer to Kariba Airport, where you will be met by a guide and transferred to Kariba Safari Lodge. This top accommodation in Kariba is set on a mountainside with sweeping lake views and the islands of Kariba in the distance. The next two days in Kariba will be spent on bush walks, a half day town excursion and a catamaran cruise on the lake. Immerse yourself in this unspoiled part of Africa, and experience the unique spectacle of Lake Kariba which will remain long in your memory.  
Hikes & Bush Walks: Enjoy a fully guided bush walk in the thick Zimbabwe bush that surrounds the lake. A Kariba walking safari provides a unique opportunity to take a closer look at the ecology and the areas heartbeat. The lakeshore and surrounding bush supports an array of wildlife that you can discover with your local guide and ranger. Half Day Kariba Town Excursion: Kariba town is a bustling hub of Zimbabwean arts, culture and history. Taking time to explore the foundations of the local people and their culture. Learn all about the incredible engineering feats of building the dam wall with a trip to the Kariba Dam Wall and the dedicated museum located alongside. The dam has had a massive impact and effect on the surrounding area, people and wildlife alike. Catamaran Cruise Lake Kariba: The catamarans at Kariba Safari Lodge provide an extremely unique and immersive sunset experience on the lake. Set sail into the sunset powered only by the wind, with a backup motor for quieter days. Enjoy included drinks and snacks as you watch the sun set below the horizon. Or take a dip in the safety nett off the back of the vessel – safe from the resident crocodiles of  the lake.
This morning you will have a light aircraft flight from Kariba to Hwange National Park Airport. Here you are met by your Hwange guide and transferred to Elephants Eye Eco Lodge. This Hwange safari lodge is situated on an extensive private concession that borders onto Hwange National Park. Its only 13 kilometers from Hwange Main Camp. After a hearty lunch and a siesta you are given a choice of activity options. Either enjoy a game drive through Hwange or visit a local village and see how the residents in the area live. There’s also a chance to chat to the resident anti poaching unit and its a real privilege to meet these eco warriors who risk their lives to protect Hwange’s wildlife.
Today is spent on a full day game drive in the Hwange National Park. This the largest national park in Zimbabwe and covers an area of approximately 14 650 km2. The park and area was named after a local chief, Hwange is situated in the northwest corner of the country about one hour south of the Victoria Falls. There are over 100 species of mammals and nearly 400 bird species recorded in Hwange, so your game viewing will be excellent. Specifically, the elephant population in Hwange is considered world famous as it is one of the largest in the world
Enjoy your last breakfast at the lodge in Hwange before your 2½ hour drive back to Victoria Falls Airport. From here you can embark on your onward journey.
