Tour Highlights

Matopos Hills –Visit the scenic hills steeped in tribal history, ancient mystery and dramatic rock landscapes. These hills were designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located in the Matobo National Park, it is an area of granite kopjes and wooded valleys.

Rhodes Grave – Visit the final resting place of the pioneer and founder of Rhodesia, Cecil John Rhodes. Cecil John Rhodes wanted his burial site to be called “view of the world” as he thought Matopos was the most magnificent site in the world.

Hwange National Park – Hwange carries 105 mammal species, including 19 large herbivores and eight large carnivores. The big five can all be found in Hwange, including the rhino, as well as many other predators. The populations of wild dog and elephant are thought to be among the largest surviving groups in the world. Large concentrations of zebra and giraffe can also be found. One of Africa’s finest havens for wildlife.

Painted Dogs Conservation – Here at the Painted Dogs Conservation Centre you will learn about the history of the painted dogs as well as what the conservation centre does for these animals and what efforts are made to protect these endangered species.

Victoria Falls – Victoria Falls has been called “the greatest known curtain of falling water”. The Falls borders on Zambia and Zimbabwe, and can be viewed from vast distances from both sides. Columns of spray can be felt from miles away as 546 million cubic meters of water per minute plummet over the edge.

Day 1: Bulawayo, Zimbabwe

On arrival at Bulawayo Airport in Zimbabwe, you will be transferred to your lodge. This afternoon will be at your leisure, to lie beside the pool or participate in some optional activities within the area.

Day 2: Matobo National Park, Zimbabwe

Matobo Hills is an area of beauty, steeped in tribal history, ancient mystery and dramatic rock landscapes. The National Park has been given a UNESCO World Heritage status and is home to both white and black rhinos and sable antelope. Birdlife is prolific and includes the highest concentration of black eagles in the world. Once the home of the San, this area contains the richest source of the rock art found anywhere. We visit the National Park, Rhodes grave and participate in a game drive including Rhino tracking.

Day 3 & 4: Hwange National Park

After breakfast, we depart Matobo Hills and make our way to Hwange National Park. This afternoon you will participate in a game walk on our private concession, led by a professional guide. Here you will learn some interesting details about the fauna and flora. You may have the opportunity to experience a close encounter with an elephant in the bush. Hwange National Park is one of Africa’s finest havens for wildlife and is home to vast herds of elephant, buffalo and zebra as well as a very large concentration of giraffe.

Day 5: Hwange

This morning, after breakfast, we do a morning game drive including a visit to the Painted Dogs Conservation Centre to learn about the effort’s made to protect these endangered species. Lunch will be provided at the lodge. Thereafter, you can partake in our Community Upliftment experience, where you will have the opportunity to learn about local traditions and experience the challenges these communities contend with on a daily basis. As part of the experience, participants visit the local school as well as some of the economic and upliftment enterprises that locals have established to combat these challenges and improve their living conditions.

Day 6: Victoria Falls

We leave the beauty of Hwange National Park behind us and head to Victoria Falls, where we explore the mighty Victoria Falls on a guided tour. Thereafter you will be transferred to your lodge, to have a relaxing afternoon or you could take the opportunity and explore the quaint town of Victoria Falls.

Day 7: Tour ends in Victoria Falls

After breakfast, we will be at the end of your tour. You will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport on time for your departure flight.

Pre and post tour accommodation and transfers can be arranged on request. Should you require alternative accommodation or transfers to different points, please contact our reservation office, who will gladly assist you.

Transport

:
You will be picked up at Bulawayo International Airport and dropped off at Victoria Falls International Airport. All transfers are either conducted in 4×4, 2×4 vehicles or minibuses.

Meals

:
Meals included in your safari will be taken in the restaurants at the various accommodation establishments. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements in advance.

Visas

:
The onus is on the client to organize all visas required to visit the countries stated on the itinerary.

Please note that travel and cancellation insurance is mandatory for every guest travelling with Jenman African Safaris. All insurance is solely the responsibility of our guests.
