Experience an amazing African safari which will take you from Cape Town to Victoria Falls! This camping safari is one of our most popular Safari tours and is an absolute classic taking you across Southern Africa to all the highlights of this beautiful part of the world.

A small group northern explorer adventure safari from Cape Town to Victoria Falls through South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe – 22 Days

Tour Highlights:

Cape Town – One of the major attractions that entice tourists on South African safaris to visit the city of Cape Town is that of the city’s most prized monument – Table Mountain. Over 1000 metres high, the summit of Table Mountain can be reached by either climbing the trails or taking the cable car.

Fish River Canyon – The Fish River Canyon boasts a drop of 1, 800ft (550m) in some areas and reaches 17 miles (27km) at its widest point, measurements that place this as a must-see highlight on your northern explorer safari!

Sossusvlei – The Sossusvlei Dunes are a massive highlight on your northern explorer safari, and can measure up to a massive 300m! The older a dune in the Sossusvlei region, the brighter the red colour of the sand, ensuring that a sunrise or sunset spent in the viewing of these dunes makes for a magical memory!

Namib-Naukluft Desert – The Namib-Naukluft National Park is home to some of the rarest plant and animal species on the planet, making a safari through this Namibian National Park a must! Some highlights include the Oryx, the springbok, and Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra, as well as the bizarre-looking Welwitschia Mirabilism.

Etosha National Park – The Etosha National Park features several waterholes that provide some of the best game viewing opportunities during the dry season, when the surrounding lands are dry and arid. On one of our Namibian safaris, you’ll be able to sit at the edge of these waterholes and view the variety of wildlife that visits the waterhole throughout the day.

Okavango Delta – When you take your Botswana safari through the Okavango Delta, you will have the opportunity to explore the natural environment that supports large herds of Elephant, Antelope and Buffalo, as well as Hippopotamus, Giraffe, Crocodile, Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Wildebeest, Rhinoceros, Zebra, Baboon and countless others.

Chobe National Park – Chobe National Park is well known for the beautiful Savuti region, a definite highlight on our safari in Botswana.  On our Chobe National Park safari, you will experience one of many natural phenomena, such as witnessing one of the largest elephant herds in the world, or possibly the annual zebra migration.

Victoria Falls – Victoria Falls has been called “the greatest known curtain of falling water” – and it is a truly spectacular site to see. Victoria Falls borders on Zambia and Zimbabwe, and can be viewed from vast distances from both sides. Columns of spray can be felt from miles away as 546 million cubic meters of water per minute plummet over the edge.

Travelling Times and Distances: All travelling times are affected by road conditions, border crossings, detours and weather conditions, therefore on certain days travelling times may be longer than anticipated especially where there is a lot of distance to be covered. Please keep in mind that the time it takes to travel 100 km in your home country is not equivalent to the time it takes to travel 100 km on African roads, therefore we encourage you to sit back and enjoy the spectacular scenery Africa has to offer. Where possible additional stops will be made to ensure your travelling comfort at all times.

Meals: All meals unless stated, are organized by the guide and are prepared by him/her with the help of the group. These meals will be enjoyed together in the evening, often around a campfire. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements in advance.

Travel Insurance: Please note that travel and cancellation insurance is mandatory for every guest travelling with Jenman African Safaris. All insurance is solely the responsibility of our guests. Please ensure you arrange your own insurance with protection for the full duration of your journey to cover personal injury, damage and loss of personal items including but not limited to camera equipment and other electronic items, medical expenses, repatriation expenses and loss of luggage, etc. Please speak to your travel agent if you require assistance.

Visas: The onus is on the client to organize all visas required for clients to visit South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe prior to departure. Please note that travellers entering Botswana will be required to present a valid international health certificate of vaccination for yellow fever should they originate from or have travelled through countries which have been declared yellow fever infected areas within the preceding 6 months.

Your booking makes a difference: With every booking to the value of R10,000 / US$1,000 / EUR1,000 or more a donation of R50 / US$5 / EUR5 will go to the Grow Africa Foundation. Click here to see the projects your booking is.

We are also proud members of Pack for a Purpose, a global initiative that allows you to make a lasting impact on the communities you visit. Use your excess luggage allowance to pack supplies needed by the Dingani Primary School in Zimbabwe and Masongora Primary School in Uganda. We’ll then make sure it gets delivered to them. We already knew Jenman Safaris from the last year and we deliberately chose the company again. As in the previous year, our guide, Lucky G, was truly excellent. He had good driving and organisational skills and knowledge of the country (which I see as a minimum requirement). From the first day, he was a member of our group and made the long drives very funny and in the three weeks we were involved in his life. The eye of the ‘Bushman’ can see lions and other animals in the shade from a distance of 300 meters; even though we had to use binoculars and needed more time 😉
The vehicle was a Toyota Landcruiser with 6 seats and fully occupied. With the photographic equipment and the backpacks etc. it was a bit cramped sometimes. But the vehicle’s greatest best feature are the window seats (there are only window seats) and that the windows can also be opened completely. Because who likes do take photographs of lions through windows? In addition, the roof can be opened.
I was pleasantly surprised by the tents and the camping experience because I usually don’t camp. The tents were high, large and spacious and the sleeping mats extremely comfortable. The meals that Lucky prepared could compete with any restaurant, and the atmosphere at the campsites in the vastness of the country under the stars was really special. Before the trip I never thought that I would look forward to the nights in the tents (as I previously hated camping).

    Greetings from Vienna,
    Gabriele Notthaft

I had the pleasure to experience a wonderful adventure travelling from Cape Town to Zimbabwe through Namibia and Botswana. It was a small organised group of 6 including Lucky G our guide/driver/spotter/chef and general organiser. It was a mixed camping/lodge trip and although I haven’t camped since a child I found the experience of sleeping under the wonderful African stars listening to the calls of the wildlife, a truly memorable event. The sound of lions roaring round the waterhole in Etosha National park and a hippo grazing within 30cms of my tent is an experience which will stay with me forever.
The whole trip was very well organised and one which I would recommend to anyone who appreciates beautiful scenery, wonderful people and magnificent wildlife.

What was the Highlight?- Every day was a highlight. From the magnificent Fish River canyon and Sossosvlei sand dunes to Etosha NP, the Okavango delta, Chobe and Victoria Falls. The spectacular constantly changing scenery andthe magnificent wildlife. A small group (max 12 people) at a good pace, not too fast, not too slow. Our Guide (Biggie) and Driver (Brilliant) were great. The accommodation was excellent, every place different with it’s own unique character
