Small-group trans-African lodge Safari through Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, starting in Windhoek and ending in Victoria Falls – 20 days

Tour Highlights:

Windhoek –  This is the capital city of Namibia, the Heroes’ Acre was memorial is located South of the city. On a hilltop in the city centre the 1890s Alte Feste (a former military headquarters) and Independence Memorial Museum is located.

Sossusvlei – The Sossusvlei area is fed by a river called the Tsuachab River – the dunes actually prevent the entire pathway of this river. The Tsuachab River only flows right through Sossusvlei every 5 to 10 years, making it a rare sight to see.The Sossusvlei dunes are about 60km from the Sesriem gate which is about an hours drive.

Swakopmund – This is a coastal city in Namibia, it’s sandy beaches face the Atlantic Ocean. The city’s colonial landmark include the Swakopmund lighthouse and the Mole (an old sea wall).

Waterberg Plateau – The Waterberg Plateau Park is a sanctuary to many endangered species that call Namibia their home. These rare and beautiful animals – including black and white rhinos, buffalo, giraffe, leopard, cheetah, jackal, wild dogs and the only herd of Cape vulture in the region.

Etosha National Park – Etosha means ‘huge white area’ or ‘place of dry water’, and the National Park certainly lives up to this description! It’s a vast shallow pan, which shines brightly in the African sun due to crystallized salt on the surface of the ground.

Namib-Naukluft National Park – On our Namibia Trans-African safari, you’ll be able to journey into the land of bright gold and magical sand dunes, whilst taking in the spectacular sights that the Namib-Naukluft National Park, which is also the largest nature conservation area in Namibia, has to offer!

Okavango Delta – The unique system of waterways which is known as the Okavango Delta in the Republic of Botswana is a large wetland area surrounded by the Kalahari Desert. Thousands of years ago tectonic activity and faulting interrupted the flow of the river causing it to backup and form this unique ecosystem of waterways and countless islands.

Makgadikgadi Pans – It has become a special Botswana Safari ‘must-see’. As the rain arrives, herds of zebra, wildebeest and other antelope make their way northwards to the Nxai Pan and are followed closely by the migration of predators, such as lion, cheetah and hyena.

Chobe National Park – Chobe National Park is well known for the beautiful Savuti region, a definite highlight on our safari in Botswana.  On our Chobe National Park trans-African safari, you will experience one of many natural phenomena, such as witnessing one of the largest elephant herds in the world, or possibly the annual zebra migration.

Hwange National Park – Situated on the main road between Bulawayo and the world famous Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park boasts a tremendous selection of wildlife and over 100 species of birds. Hwange carries 105 mammal species, including 19 large herbivores and eight large carnivores. The big five can all be found in Hwange, as well as many other predators.

Victoria Falls – Victoria Falls has been called “the greatest known curtain of falling water” – and it is a truly spectacular site to see. Victoria Falls borders on Zambia and Zimbabwe, and can be viewed from vast distances from both sides. Columns of spray can be felt from miles away as 546 million cubic meters of water per minute plummet over the edge.

Transport: Jenman Safaris uses fully equipped Toyota Land Cruisers, Sprinters and 12-seater 4×4 Safari vehicles (Chosen vehicle determined by Jenman African Safaris).

Travelling Time & Distances: All travelling times are affected by road conditions, border crossings, detours and weather conditions, therefore on certain days travelling times may be longer than anticipated especially where there is a lot of distance to be covered. Please keep in mind that the time it takes to travel 100 km in your home country is not equivalent to the time it takes to travel 100 km on African roads, therefore we encourage you to sit back and enjoy the spectacular scenery Africa has to offer. Where possible additional stops will be made to ensure your travelling comfort at all times.

Meals: Where included most breakfasts and dinners will be enjoyed in the restaurants of the various accommodation establishments, however on certain nights the guide will provide an authentic meal for the group, which will be enjoyed together in the evening, often around a campfire. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements in advance.

Visas: The onus is on the client to organize all visas required to visit Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe prior to departure. Please note that travellers entering Botswana will be required to present a valid international health certificate of vaccination for yellow fever should they originate from or have travelled through countries which have been declared yellow fever infected areas within the preceding 6 months.

Travel Insurance: Please note that travel and cancellation insurance is mandatory for every guest travelling with Jenman African Safaris. All insurance is solely the responsibility of our guests. Please ensure you arrange your own insurance with protection for the full duration of your journey to cover personal injury, damage and loss of personal items including but not limited to camera equipment and other electronic items, medical expenses, repatriation expenses and loss of luggage, etc. Please speak to your travel agent if you require assistance.

Making your Travels Meaningful: The Grow Africa Foundation (163-738 NPO) is the responsible tourism initiative started by Jenman African Safaris and Hideaways. Your booking makes a difference: With every booking to the value of R10,000 / US$1,000 / EUR1,000 or more a donation of R50 / US$5 / EUR5 will go to the Grow Africa Foundation. Click here to see the projects your booking is.

We are also proud members of Pack for a Purpose, a global initiative that allows you to make a lasting impact on the communities you visit. Use your excess luggage allowance to pack supplies needed by the Dingani Primary School in Zimbabwe and Masongora Primary School in Uganda. We’ll then make sure it gets delivered to them. My family and I have just returned from one of your safari’s (Namibia-Vic falls 19th July-29th July). I have to say that the trip surpassed all our expectations and included too many highlights to mention. We have made life long friends as a result. Non of the above would have been possible if it were not for Charles (Teno) our guide. He was/is simply extraordinary. His attitude, motivation, knowledge and enthusiasm, not to mention his sense of humour were astonishing – you have a gem there and must look after him.

Thank you again for providing such a special experience and we will be travelling again with you next spring to S Africa, this time with my son and his girlfriend joining us.

    Best regards
    Andrew Kretzschmar and family

Everything went smoothly and our guide, Biggie, and driver, Brighton, were both delightful; fun, helpful, informative and unfailingly cheerful.

I would be very happy to recommend the holiday to anyone thinking of a trip to that area of Africa. The wildlife and scenery were fascinating and the accommodation very comfortable. All the lodges and camps were totally different and all attractive with different things to offer. We also enjoyed the fact that the truck was comfortable and provided good all round vision, especially as the distances covered were often quite long. Having seen the glaringly coloured trucks of other companies, we also appreciated the more muted livery of the truck and the company.
I’m now enjoying reliving the experience sorting through thousands of photos.

Thank you for all your help in answering my queries and booking the optional trips which were also very exciting and a great experience.

    Best wishes and many thanks
    Sheila Russell
