Tour Highlights

Lake Manyara National Park – The major landmark of the Lake Manyara National Park is actually the spectacular rift wall, where the plains give way to the cultivated uplands of Mbululand. The Great Rift Valley is part of a fault in the earth’s crust. This fault stretches 8,000 km from Turkey to the mouth of the Zambezi River in Mozambique.

Ngorongoro Crater – The Crater belongs to the Crater Highlands, with vast plains and stretches of bush and woodland areas – creating complex and interrelated ecosystems. The entire Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers about 8300 km2 and next to the famous Crater is the Olduvai Gorge – an area were many fossils have been unearthed.

The Wildebeest Migration – Over 2,000,000 wildebeest migrate annually in East Africa from Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park to the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.

Lake Victoria –  Africa’s largest lake by area, and is also the largest tropical lake in the world.

Nairobi – Nairobi is the Capital of Kenya and here you will be able to enjoy the culture and vibrancy of this popular city! It’s worth visiting the National Museum – it offers a good introduction to Kenya, and the cool, peaceful interiors will give relief from the hot, busy streets outside. As you walk quietly around, you’ll see displays of fossils, tribal artefacts, and a bird gallery with more than 900 stuffed and mounted specimens.

Amboseli National Park – The most attractive aspect of Amboseli is its distinctive terrain – dry lake beds amongst oases of swamps offer travellers the most amazing Kenyan contrasts. There are quite a few roads that run through the Amboseli National Park that travellers can drive along while taking pleasure in some amazing game viewing!

Travel Times and Distance: All travelling times are affected by road conditions, border crossings, detours and weather conditions, therefore on certain days travelling times may be longer than anticipated especially where there is a lot of distance to be covered. Making your Travels Meaningful: The Grow Africa Foundation (163-738 NPO) is the responsible tourism initiative started by Jenman African Safaris and Hideaways. We do this by instigating and supporting local social and environmental projects.

Your booking makes a difference: With every booking to the value of R10,000 / US$1,000 / EUR1,000 or more a donation of R50 / US$5 / EUR5 will go to the Grow Africa Foundation. Click here to see the projects your booking is.

We are also proud members of Pack for a Purpose, a global initiative that allows you to make a lasting impact on the communities you visit. Use your excess luggage allowance to pack supplies needed by the Dingani Primary School in Zimbabwe. We’ll then make sure it gets delivered to them. Click hereto view Dingani’s current needs list.

1 review for East Africa Migration Discoverer – From & to Arusha

  1. Jim and Phyllis Conran

Dear Johan: Jambo! My wife and I had the pleasure of meeting you twice while we were on the East African Migration Safari (7-16 – 7/30). Once was at the wonderful disabled children’s school and the other at lunch in Arusha. The safari was part of a month long trip we booked with Jenman. We also visited Kigali, Kampala, Zanzibar and Victoria Falls. We had a wonderful time and I wanted to give you some direct feedback which I hope you find of value.

First and most important we always felt safe and that safety was always the primary concern of your field staff. We had Charmy and Raymond as our travel team leaders. They were perfect. Raymond was a safe driver and always extremely courteous to each person on the safari. Charmy is just plain old charming. He was able to answer any question directed to him about the wildlife, fauna and customs of the local people. He has a great sense of humor and was able to keep our group on time, entertained and informed. We would love to travel with them again. Please extend our appreciation to them both.

Alex was also super. He helped set the expectations when we had our first group meeting. He visited us a few times during the safari just to make sure we were all doing well. One evening, my wife and I were staying at a different campsite than our fellow travelers. We were the first Jenman guests to stay at the Kenzan Wildlife Safaris new permanent camp (more about that in a bit). He drove from Arusha to have dinner with us just to make sure we were happy and well-taken care of which was very thoughtful and appreciated. He was with you when we saw you again at the children’s center and lunch. Again we felt well cared for.

I realize there are members of your staff who we did not meet or communicate with directly, but all the arrangements were great. When we traveled alone after the safari we were ALWAYS met on time and were well cared for by your subcontractors. We loved our trip which was for our 30th wedding anniversary. Please extend our thanks to all the planners who made the trip successful.
I wished we could have stayed at both places longer.

It is hard to express how incredible the wildlife is at the crater, Serengeti and Masai Mara. We will always remember this trip and we definitely think we got our money’s worth. If you should see Chantal, please tell her Jim and Phyllis from San Francisco send our best. She was a great guide for our previous trip and because of her we chose Jenman for this one.

Asante to you and all of your staff for their efforts.
