My wife Carol and I have just returned from our 3 week adventure in Madagascar, and we wanted to express our appreciation for the excellent service we received from Jenman. The support, from organizing the itinerary through its many iterations to the logistics and on the ground service was excellent. The only glitches that occurred were beyond anyone’s control – changes to the 2 Air Madagascar flights. Even for these issues, we were quickly informed and adjustments made as required. Everyone was very willing to accommodate our suggestions for on the fly changes or additions to the plans (for example, money changing requests, purchasing water and adding a visit to the Croc Farm in Tana when our flight arrived earlier than originally scheduled).
We especially want to thank our guides and drivers. We started out with Reza from Tana to Morondava, Bekopaka and the Tsingy. Our initial concerns about his poorer English were quickly supplanted by our appreciation of his outstanding driving skills. The drive was complicated by early rains that made the already challenging roads extremely muddy and slippery. The RAV4 was actually somewhat inadequate, especially the low clearance issue (hence dropping the muffler!). However, Reza was able to handle the vehicle masterfully, preventing us from getting stuck and successfully completing the long drive back.
Next, we thoroughly enjoyed Dani (I’m not sure about spelling for names), from Tulear back to Tana. His English was excellent, and he provided a lot of information. He would periodically stop for breaks, even allowing us to walk some sections of the highway for exercise and a more intimate interaction with the landscape.
Germaine drove us to the airport once, through horrible traffic, and got us there on time. We apologize for not tipping him – we were more focussed on getting checked in.
And to wrap up the trip, Elody and Bolide were both interesting and informative. Elody came on all of the walks with us and certainly added to the experiences. She was also very good at finding items of interest, including spiders and stick insects!
