Namibia is a vast country with breathtakingly beautiful destinations scattered throughout. The best way to experience the mostly undiscovered tourist gem is by road, either on an overland safari or self-drive. Namibia has always had a reputation for decent roads, even suitable for self-driving in a basic sedan, travellers who wanted to venture further off the beaten track were sometimes advised to consider the larger SUV vehicles, or mostly to exercise extra caution. However, recently the roads have been causing concern and even affecting some of the toughest overland vehicles. The condition of roads to and from tourism hotspots such as Twyfelfontein, Sossusvlei, and other locations around the Namib Desert as well as Damaraland have deteriorated considerably and this is affecting travel in the region. As a result, we’ve had to reroute our Northern Experience, Southern Experience and Northern Explorer tours and scout out some exciting new attractions.
