The Bridge between Challenges & Solutions, Good Will & Action.
The Grow Africa Foundation was created by Jenman African Safaris and Hideaways with the aim to make a positive impact on the environment, society and economy in the places we visit. Collaboration is our keyword - we support and work with communities in their upliftment and wildlife conservation so that results are not only impactful in the short term, but sustainable in the long term.
Grow Africa sows the seeds for growth in Africa because we are profoundly aware of its value and believe in empowering its people with the opportunities to prosper. We then cultivate those seeds through collaborative partnerships with the local communities.
- Build Trust & Confidence with the Community
- Identify Their Areas of Concern
- Support & Empower Locals to Enable Them to Address their Concerns
- Collaborate with Communities and Other Support Groups to Identify Sustainable Solutions
We only assist when the communities are committed, so no freebee’s or handouts. We work together with them and provide support to create sustainable solutions and to ensure the locals are empowered.
We also encourage our clients and partners to get involved. So if you would like to help, then you have come to the right place!
The Grow Africa Foundation (163-738 NPO) is the Responsible Tourism Foundation created by Jenman African Safaris and Hideaways in December 2015
A self-sustaining foundation that collaborates with local communities and partners to create and support sustainable social and environmental projects.
We strive to be an inspirational foundation instilling a sense of purpose and pride for Jenman African Safaris and Hideaways, as well as their employees, clients, and partners.

Together with Jenman
Jenman African Safaris supports the Grow Africa Foundation in the following ways:
A small portion of every booking received by Jenman African Safaris to the value of ZAR5,000 / US$500 / EUR500 or more, goes towards the Grow Africa Foundation. In this way, each Jenman client actively contributes to the upliftment of those in need and to conservation in Africa.
These donations of ZAR50 / US$5 / EUR5 cover the foundation’s overheads, administration and marketing expenses.
Jenman African Safaris further supports the Grow Africa Foundation by sharing its own resources including:
- Office Space & Equipment
- Electricity, Connectivity & Phones
- In-House Skills & Personnel
- Volunteers & Ambassadors
The combination of funding and provision of staff, overheads and facilities means that 100% of independent donations are allocated to the designated project.
In return, the Grow Africa Foundation helps Jenman African Safaris with identifying and maintaining their environmental standards and socially inclusive policy.
NEW 2018 'Burning Issues'
Are you inspired to plant the seeds for growth in Africa? Would you like get involved in making a positive difference?
As well as overseeing various in-house environmental and socially inclusive projects within Jenman African Safaris and Hideaways, the Grow Africa Foundation spearheads the following projects:
Rosmead Primary School in Claremont, Cape Town is close to our office and close to our hearts. The public school receives minimal government funding as it is located in what is considered an affluent area, however, most of the students come from lower income areas. Although school fees are kept low to accommodate them, much other assistance is needed.
Pack for a Purpose
We are proud members of Pack for a Purpose, an initiative that allows individual travelers to give back to the communities they are visiting and make a lasting impact. By saving just a few kilos of space in their suitcase, they can bring much-needed school supplies and make a significant impact on the lives of local children and families.
Dingani Primary School is a rural school in Zimbabwe, close to Hwange National Park and our Hideaways lodge Elephant’s Eye, Hwange. Our Foundation supports the school through a variety of initiatives and we are working hand in hand with the Dingani school and community to reach their goal of a 50% pass rate by 2021.
The Conservation and Wildlife Fund
The Conservation and Wildlife Fund (CWF), of which Hideaways is a founding member, is a collaborative group of conservationists and stakeholders in the Hwange National Park region who take action on critical conservation issues affecting the area.
