Spier is more than a hotel. It is a destination in itself offering a variety of authentic experiences

Village-style buildings, lush green lawns and spacious rooms situated next to the calming Eerste River are the defining characteristics of the 4 star Spier Hotel. Our 153 rooms are clustered around six courtyards, with each courtyard boasting its own swimming pool. The design is reminiscent of the Bo-Kaap or Mediterranean villages where pedestrians have right of way.

Spier hotel is beautifully appointed, with a wonderful outdoor reception area set in a gorgeous garden, and a spacious main reception with a warm fireplace and welcoming staff who ensured we were well taken care of throughout our stay. The rooms are spacious and decorated in a contemporary style, each with a lovely view of the property, with a private outdoor area to relax. We had dinner at Vadas Smokehouse and Bakery, one of the 4 onsite restaurants which focuses on delicious farm-to-table fare with champion organic free-range beef supplied by Farmer Angus from cows on the Spier farm. Spier has 4 restaurants, each with its own charm, as well as providing packed picnics, so visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to dining options. For breakfast we were treated to a variety of hot and cold foods, fresh fruits, meats and a wide selection of cheeses and pickles, and a selection of vegetarian options as well as a fantastic view of that amazing garden. Besides strolling through the extensive gardens, crossing bridges over bubbling streams, and just generally soaking up the beautiful location, Spier offers many activities. One of the most popular is the Eagle Encounter which is a wild bird rehabilitation centre where visitors can experience raptors up close, enjoy flying demonstrations and learn more about many birds of prey such as eagles and owls. There are also chickens, guinea pigs, and rabbits for the kiddies! Other activities include Picnics, Walks, Segway Tours and of course Winetasting of Spier’s own vintages – some of the best the Cape has to offer.
