Kruger National Park – At nearly 2 million hectares the Kruger National Park is one of the world’s largest game reserves and a truly remarkable destination. Because of its exceptional size you can experience amazing diversity – from the scenery and ecosystems to the amazing array of animals, trees and birds.
Vilanculos – This bustling coastal town has its own international airport and is a great base for exploring the idyllic islands of the Bazaruto archipelago. The town itself offers good diving, a wide range of accommodation choices and a lively nightlife, not to mention a strong Portuguese flair and spicy flavours.
Day 1: Arrive at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport
On arrival into Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the afternoon may be spent at leisure.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive & High Tea
Here you’ll head to the Kruger National Park with the chance to encounter African wildlife on a morning game drive. Following this, you’ll have a few hours to relax at the lodge before meeting again in the late afternoon for a scrumptious high tea while soaking up with African sun.
Day 3: Afternoon Game Walk & Evening Game Drive
Spend the morning at your leisure before setting off on an afternoon game walk where your highly qualified & trained field guide will teach you how to track, read the bush and enlighten you on various plant species and the delicate balance of the ecosystem. On return to the camp, share the day’s experiences over a pre-dinner drink, followed by a delicious dinner at the lodge. Then, the search for the African wildlife continues on an evening game drive, allowing guests the opportunity to see the nocturnal animals not encountered during the day.
Day 4: Arrive in Vilanculos
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight to Mozambique. You will be met and transferred from Vilankulo Airport to your lodge via a thrilling beach drive to arrive at Rio Azul, located on the banks of a turquoise lagoon, where you will spend the next three carefree nights.
Day 5: Snorkelling & Pansy Island
The day is spent exploring the warm waters of the Indian ocean with a variety of optional activities such as snorkelling, kayaking or boating. We also take a trip to Pansy Island, with sightings of pink flamingos and the rare Pansy Shell, the special petal–shaped shells found prolifically on the white beaches of the Island. For lunch, enjoy a private beach picnic on the island before returning to the lodge for dinner.
Day 6: Sunset Dhow Cruise
Spend the day at your leisure, either beside the swimming pool, in the ocean or on the beach, or participating in some of the optional activities available such as catch and release fishing, or chartering a traditional dhow to drift along on a uniquely African sunset cruise.
Day 7: Kayak Excursion
Paddle out into the warm waters of the Indian Ocean on a kayak excursion, or explore the magnificent mangroves while experiencing the amazing marine life the ocean has to offer. Alternatively enjoy a guided bush walk or bird-watching along the pristine estuary.
Day 8: Tour ends in Vilanculos
Enjoy your breakfast at the lodge before your transfer to Vilankulo Airport.
Accommodation is limited so the below mentioned accommodation is subject to availability and we reserve the right to change these using similar accommodation of the same standards.
Day 1 – 3: Jock Safari Lodge or similar
Day 4 – 8: Rio Azul Lodge or similar
Upon arrival, you will be picked up from Mpumalanga International Airport and transferred to your lodge. Airport transfers are usually conducted in sedan vehicles or minibuses. The game drives will take place in open 4×4 vehicles.
Meals included in your safari will be taken in the restaurants at the various accommodation establishments. Please advise us of any special dietary requirements in advance.
The onus is on the client to organize all visas required to visit the countries stated on the itinerary.
