The Cape Outdoor Adventure and Travel Experience 1

Das Cape Outdoor Abenteuer und Reise Erlebnis

Patti at Outdoor showDas Cape Outdoor Abenteuer und Reise Erlebnis opened its doors for the 13th year. Held at the Bien Donne Agricultural Farm between Franschhoek und die Paarl from Friday 2 October to Sunday 4 October, this year’s Cape Outdoor Show delighted visitors with desirable holiday destinations, tantalizing taste sensations and fantastic outdoor items. The exhibition catered for the whole family, including our furry extended family – yes, ‘social’ dogs on leads were catered for as well.

At R45 a ticket for Adults and R10 a ticket for children, these were some of the things available at the show this year:

The most important section of the show! Being a first time exhibitor, this is where we had our 3×3 meter stand. Located between Lesotho and Namibia, we were surrounded by two of the most popular self drive destinations in Südliches Afrika with the advantage that we managed to introduce a lot of these clients to one of the most unique destinations in the world, Madagaskar as well as Östliches Afrika, Ethiopia und die Angola of course. According to our neighbors, the show was smaller and quieter than in previous years, an obvious sign of the recession. Nonetheless, neither this nor the heat on Saturday and cold on Sunday deterred people from a far a field as Pretoria to come and visit the show. We’re still waiting for actual figures from the show organizer.

Other exhibits in the Go Travel section of the show were holiday destinations from international countries including Southern Asia, India, Kenia, Namibia, Mosambik, Sambia und die Simbabwe and more. Also found were local destinations and adventure products from the Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Limpopo and Mpumalanga and regions in the Western Cape.

With everything from caravanning and tents to outdoor accessories and innovations, the Go Outdoor area of the show had everything an outdoor enthusiast could dream of.

Fantastic live entertainment by Sharon Clifton at the Coca Cola Gig Rig in the Deli Area of the show.

Royal Canin, Cape of Good Hope SPCA and the South African Blind Dogs Association invited everyone to bring along their social dogs on leads to enjoy a great day out with the family.

This year the Children’s Area hosted great activities for children including jumping castles, the ‘walking on water’ experience with Bubble Balls, face painting, balloon tricks and much more.

This year events included clay pigeon shooting, paintball, helicopter flips, quad outrides, horse rides, bungy bounce and extreme bounce and much much more.

To sum it up, it’s definitely a show for 4×4 owners and outdoor enthusiasts. Having said that, save yourself the time and effort.
