Ahhhhh…Beautiful Cintsa!

Cintsa holiday

Last week the four of us travelled from the wintery rains of Kapstadt past East London to visit Cintsa (Chintsa) along the coast of the Eastern Cape.  The weather was mild and clear, although there were downpours and even snow in other areas not far from us.  This was my first visit to Cintsa in 14 years; I fell in love with the beach there a long time ago and it hadn’t changed from my memory.  Clean, soft sand stretches as far as the eye can see, with a lovely patch of rock pools ideal for the children to play in.

They found many hermit crabs, periwinkles, and even a noodie branch in their fervent search for sea life, and the ocean is warm enough for a swim.  They also loved climbing the high dunes right to the top and then pummeling their bodies down into the sand over and over again.  This single activity could have lasted the entire day, even after the rain started!  The kids could never get tired of that beach!

While in Cintsa, we stayed at Crawford Beach Lodge.  Nestled amid lush tropical trees and rolling hills right at the beach’s edge, this lodge is known as the thatched haven of the Wild Coast.  It is a five-star getaway destination with scrumptious meals, comfy beds, DSTV and an indoor/outdoor kids play area.  And within walking distance from the lodge there is the fabulous Michaela’s restaurant, with excellent food, service, and the most spectacular view in every direction.
Another treat in Cintsa is the quaint Areena Private Game Reserve, where we enjoyed the petting zoo and met their semi-tame, hand-reared giraffe Abby.  They offer boating, quad-biking, and paint ball, as well as accommodation, a restaurant and a small retirement village!  We had an excellent meal and met the most welcoming, helpful staff working there.

Cintsa is a malaria-free area. Approximately 40km from East London, there is plenty to do, including surfing, boating, hiking, and exploring the beaches, scenery and unique landscape.  If you would like to book a package to Cintsa, please direkt!
