Uniquely situated on the banks of the Kwando River in Namibia, Camp Kwando is perfectly placed for you to explore Mudumu National Park and the Victoria Falls. After a day filled with activities and game drives relax at the lodge’s pool or restaurant which opens up onto the river. From where you can watch hippos and crocodiles passing by while you sample delicious meals including the lodge’s special homemade ice cream. This delightful camp offers you a range of comfortable and well equipped accommodation, including Island Tents and Chalets as well as a basic, well maintained campsite, so you are sure to find something that suits your budget and needs.
The island accommodates 12 thatched tents, each of which is equipped with two beds, mosquito nets and an en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and basin with hot and cold water. The open sky bathrooms allow you to enjoy the surrounding nature and the thatched roof guarantees thermal regulation (so you will be cooler in the summer months and warmer in the winter months). Built on poles with a deck overlooking the river, these bungalows are perfect for fisherman as you can fish from the deck! Electricity is provided at key times by a generator, otherwise rooms are lit by paraffin lights.
4 Tree Houses
Camp Kwando also offers 4 large chalets which have been built on stilts on higher ground, allowing for breath taking views of the Botswana plains. Each chalet is made of wood and canvas with thatched roofs, and is equipped with a spacious, stylishly furnished bedroom, a large en-suite bathroom as well as an expanding deck.
The camp site is situated between the main building and the island. Covered by a carefully maintained lawn and magnificent trees which provides some much needed shade in the hotter months, the site allows for ten camping spots. The facilities provided include showers, toilets, and basins as well as space for you to do your laundry – hot and cold water is provided.
