Either way… Have a look at some of the fantastic things you can do in Cape Town, and if you have any other ideas for those reading this blog – then please post a comment.
Cape Town is a fantastic holiday destination filled with hidden adventures and mysterious secrets… not to mention hiking, SHOPPING and other attractions that make Cape Town a firm favourite with tourists and with Jenman African Safaris!
Cape Town’s main attraction is Table Mountain of course! Table Mountain is the famous flat-topped mountain landmark of Cape Town; you can enjoy a Cable Car ride to the top on a rotating cable car trip or climb to the top of Table Mountain on a hike (Hoerikwaggo hike)… Cape Town also boasts Robben Island – this was the notorious prison that held Nelson Mandela and others in the Apartheid era. Robben Island is now a World Heritage site and a museum. Cape Towns’ city centre also boasts a planetarium, a few museums and 1 or 2 art galleries… Cape Town is rich with history and culture; you can spend the day learning Cape Town and its diversity!!
Shopping… For the shopping-lovers out there, Cape Town has a few top-class shopping malls that you may get lost in for hours and hours. We have the V&A Waterfront, Canal Walk, Cavendish, Tyger-valley and other smaller shopping centres. Most of these Cape Town ‘malls’ also contain a wide variety of top-class restaurants ranging from fine-dining to normal take-out places… These Cape Town shopping malls also contain those ‘exclusive’ boutiques ranging from Louis Vitton, Gucci and ‘Boss’ all the way to Woolworth’s (a favourite of mine), Edgar’s and other affordable shops. For those of you that love shopping I recommend the V&A Waterfront; exclusive shops, exquisite restaurants, boat rides and even an aquarium… what more could a girl want!
Cape Town is well known for its high-class and spectacular wines, this makes visiting Stellenbosch and the vineyards a must! You can go on a wine tasting tour or just spend the day out in that area driving from vineyard to vineyard… A favourite place of mine is the Spier Wine farm – not only can you buy reasonably priced wines they also have a lovely picnic site and a fantastic restaurant (Jonkershuis) – all offering exceptional food. Spend the day out in the Winelands – we also offer some wine tasting tours and Stellenbosch tour options.
Cape Town has some of the best beaches around the world to enjoy the sun, play some beach games and work on your golden tan. Plus you never know what famous person you may spot on one of our popular beaches. For those that are in Cape Town for more of an ‘extreme’ time… you can surf, kiteboard, kayak or dive – our beaches provide the best conditions for that awesome surf or that spectacular dive. Some of Cape Towns gorgeous beaches are; Clifton (especially Clifton 4th), Camps Bay, Muizenberg, Fish Hoek, Table View, Llandudno…
Hoerikwaggo hiking – this is for the adventure seekers out there. If you love the outdoors and love a nice and rewarding work-out then try out the Hoerikwaggo Trails. This hike takes you from Table Mountain all the way to Cape Point on a 7 day or 5 day adventure in Cape Town. This trail starts off at Table Mountain taking you to MaClears Beacon (the highest point of Table Mountain!) all the way down to Orange Kloof Forest passing one of the damns along the way. From there onwards you will head towards Silvermine which will give you magnificent views of False Bay… and on towards Kommetjie through Chapmans peak – walk along the beaches and smell the fresh sea air. We will carry on and make our way towards Simonstown and then on towards Cape Point. Here you will explore the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reseve…
With all of these diverse options to choose from… you are guaranteed to find something you want to do! If you have any other great ideas then please post a comment… Or contact us to find out about travelling and touring around Cape Town!
