Moremi Game Reserve is a section of the Okavango Delta, covering 40% of its landscape. It is an incredibly rich wildlife area. Quilted in wetlands, forests, floodplains, open grassland, and lily-covered lagoons, Moremi is one of Africa’s most beautiful conservation areas.
Such a range of habitats have resulted in Moremi teeming with abundant diversity. When the Okavango Delta floodplains fill up with Angolan waters in June, the area becomes a popular waterhole. Thousands of animals arrive to quench their thirst. This is the perfect time for game viewing with herds of elephant, buffalo, a variety of antelope and of course following in their footsteps – predators. Moremi is also a stronghold for the wild dog population of Botswana, a successful reintroduction of rhinos, and the home to more than 500 bird species. The reserve is literally bursting with life.
Classic game drives, walking safaris as well as mokoro rides through meandering channels of the delta are all fascinating ways to observe this ecological wonder – or all three for the ultimate Moremi safari experience!
