Peppered in palms and covered in white sand, the small fishing village of Ifaty is idyllic and relaxed, the perfect place to relax. Time in Ifaty will be a more traditional experience, the coastal settlement scattered with houses made of reeds and wooden dugout canoes used by local fishermen.

Only 25km from the coastal town of Toliara, it’s the perfect add on to your Madagascan adventure. Crystal clear waters for snorkelling, the aquamarine lagoon calls for exploration on a boat ride, and during the months of July and August – whale watching. Adjacent to Ifaty is the Reniala Reserve, meaning ‘Mother of the Forest’, a nickname for the interesting baobab tree forest in the area.
