Planet Baobab

Planet Baobab

Accommodation:

Situated far from the hustle and bustle of city life in the midst of the arid Botswana landscape you will come across one of the most vibrant and unique camps you have ever seen! Named after the 4 000 year old giant baobab trees which surround the camp, Planet Baobab is a traditionally styled mud Bakalanga hut village which combines Afro-chic style with comfort. Remaining true to its traditional African inspiration, Baobab’s Makgadikgadi experience provides an opportunity for guests to learn more about Botswana’s culture and traditions, and the fascinating geological origins of the Makgadikgadi Pans. This is the perfect accommodation for adventurous travelers and families who desire a truly unique African experience.

Traditional Bakalanga Mud Huts
The Bakalanga Mud Huts are inspired by the traditional homes of Botswana. Each hut is uniquely designed and offers guests incredible comfort and style. The huts are perfectly designed for the African climate as they are warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and all have en suite facilities. The verandah or ‘lelwapa’ areas have low cow dung walls and beautiful exterior artwork has been applied with natural pigments harvested from termite mounds. All bedding is provided and each hut features a unique shelving space for guests. Each hut sleeps 2 people, and a Bakalanga Family Hut is also available which sleeps 4 people.

Baobab Huts
Similar to the Bakalanga Mud Huts, the Baobab Huts have been built in an authentic and traditional fashion using only natural materials. Remaining true to tradition they are without electricity or en-suite facilities. They are well designed for the changing Bush climate and keep guests cool in the heat and warm in the winter. Each hut features 2 traditional but comfortable beds made from mopane with cowhides covering the floor, a bedside table and a paraffin lantern. Linen is provided. True to inspiration, they are without electricity or en-suite facilities.

Camping Sites
Planet Baobab also offers large, secluded campsites for campers with BBQ / braai and ablution facilities.
