Moivaro Lake Natron Tented Camp

Lake Natron is at the foot of the Masaai’s sacred Mountain, known as Oldonyo L’Engai. This is the last of Africa’s active volcanoes. As a consequence, Lake Natron is one of the most alkaline lakes in the world making it home to many million crustaceans as well as being one of the most important breeding grounds for the lesser flamingos this can make the Lake look like it is a shade of pink. The area around the Lake as you can imagine is dry and desolate, yet this is the home for many Masaai. The Camp itself is set back in a forest away from the dry dusty roads. Your visit here will be more for the cultural as well as the landscape rather than the wildlife and there is always the option of challenging yourself to climbing the sacred Mountain.

The camp offers 9 spacious, semi-luxury tents which each boast an en-suite with shower, flush toilet and hand basin. You can enjoy outside living with a hint of luxury, such as electric lighting and running water, as well as the opportunity to recharge your cameras etc. Each tent has mosquito nets as well as its own private veranda so that you can sit and enjoy the view of this beautiful area.
There is also the option of camping where there are 11 already set up, fly tents, 2 kitchen areas, a mess tent and a communal toilet and shower area.
