Jenman Safaris: October 2011

Is it lunch time?

Have you ever wondered what "a picnic spot en-route" (mentioned on our itineraries) is really like? Click on the below video (or here) to truly experience what it's all about...

Besides getting hungry and seeing the nice food you will also be able to witness that the picnic spots chosen en-route are always far enough away from the road, in safe locations and are always, without a doubt, breath-taking!

Launching Value Adds on our Safaris!

Jenman Safaris has teamed up with a number of partners to bring you some fabulous value adds if you are visiting Cape Town or the Garden Route on one of our tours or packages.

These include discount vouchers for restaurants at the V&A waterfront, Helicopter flights, shopping vouchers, and various activities and adventures along the Garden Route.

Heart-warming feedback: this makes it all worth it!

Dear Garth,

I just wanted to say what a great time Big Mike (who has Down's syndrome) and I had on our recent holiday - it was more than we could have hoped for. And to thank you for your belief in a person with disabilities...

Of more importance we would also like to commend to you the tour leader Ntando Hlabangani for his professionalism, his knowledge and especially his kindness to Mike and myself. Nothing was ever too much trouble and he always had a kind word or encouragement for Mike when he was a little restless (thankfully this wasn't often). Also our driver BMan was likewise knowledgeable, kind and helpful especially in his ability to see animals far beyond my eyesight and his tracking ability.

We will not hesitate to recommend your tour group to our friends.

With kindest regards
Jo and Big Mike

Voluntourism - make a difference while you travel through Africa!

Are you looking for a meaningful way to spend time in Africa? Would you like to do more than just be a sightseeing visitor? Is there some way to get involved in the local communities in Africa, even just for a day or two or three?

If you are looking for an opportunity to help out, create change, and be part of something during your trip to Africa, we offer these unique day-trips, as optional excursions in "Voluntourism".

Day One, Cape Town: We support a local township school in Khayalitsha. This project promotes social change and activism among the most impoverished - kids in the townships. Here we spend the day, helping the kids in their school vegetable garden, participating in their yoga classes, or joining the group for regular story-telling.
Day Two, Swakopmund: We assist in teaching fire awareness and safety in the local township. Fire prevention has become a huge priority in this township, as fires have caused enormous damage and many tragic deaths.
Day Three, Victoria Falls: We promote Wildlife Conservation and anti-poaching efforts in the Zambezi National Park with the Rhino anti-poaching unit; help find snares and make a difference....

* Please note that this is an add-on to our Northern and Southern Experience safaris. If you would like to find out more please email us on info@jenmansafaris.com or click here. If you would like to get involved and you are travelling on a different safari then please chat to us - we have some great ideas!

They previously advised against all but essential travel to coastal areas within 60km of the border. The Travel Advice now states: FCO advise against all but essential travel to coastal areas within 150km of the Somali border, following two attacks by armed gangs in small boats against beach resorts in the Lamu area on 11 September and 1 October 2011. This advice will be kept under review. Both attacks were on beach-front properties, with two Westerners kidnapped and one murdered. Beach-front accommodation in that area and boats off the coast are vulnerable.
