Inverdoorn Safaris

SOUTH AFRICAN SAFARIS AND INVERDOORN
Inverdoorn covers an amazing 10 000 ha of pure wildlife, bush and desert in the Ceres-Karoo region. Between 1915 and 1972 Inverdoorn was actually known as the biggest fruit farming area in the Southern hemisphere! Many years later Inverdoorn was reborn and became a highly protected area for wildlife and biodiversity… and was declared as the Inverdoorn Private Nature Reserve in 1997.
This stunning game reserve is located 2 hours away from Cape Town making it a popular retreat for many locals as well as international tourists (who fly down solely to explore Inverdoorn and the surrounding areas).
A unique selling point of Inverdoorn is that it has its own look-out deck overlooking a well populated ‘waterhole’… Inverdoorn has lots of fun activities to do besides game viewing and game walks such as; swimming, golfing, birding, quad biking, tennis, bushman painting tours and fantastic dining facilities. It also boasts a fabulous selection of guest houses and chalets for travellers to relax in after a day filled with game drives and golf.
Inverdoorn is best known for its game drives and game walks… The Inverdoorn game drives generally last for about 3 hours and are done in specially designed safari vehicles with a knowledgeable ranger. You will be surprised at how much the rangers at Inverdoorn know; they have a wealth of knowledge about the flora and fauna as well as the best places to find game… some even recognise the different animals in a ‘same species’ herd just by looking at them! The Inverdoorn game walks are guided walks on specially designated paths accompanied by expert trackers who take you as close as safely possible to the animals…
There is a huge array of animals that can be seen in the Inverdoorn Game Reserve, such as; giraffes, zebras, impalas, buffaloes, white rhinos, kudu, impalas, lechwe, orynxes, lions, cheetahs, springbok and more! There are also about 165 different bird species, including; the blue crane, cape francolin, grey heron, ostrich, owl and karoo korhaan. In total there are over 1200 wild animals (28 different species) in the Inverdoorn Game Reserve. Inverdoorn also is home to a cheetah rehabilitation centre where travellers can learn about breeding and special care programs for cheetahs.
The best time to visit Inverdoorn is during the dry season as the animals frequent the watering holes to drink! Also, there is less dense bush cover in Inverdoorn in the drier months which means you can see further into the game reserve…The best months would be between November and March.
