Stuck! – Now it did actually happen. We had already passed at least 2 000 water holes: small ones, deep ones, big ones, stony ones, wrinkled ones. Sometimes some water seeped into the car. Sometimes we got frightened when the vehicle suddenly dropped half a meter. Sometimes we moaned after driving through yet another pot hole – with or without any water in it.

We especially didn’t expect anything like this to happen today. It was supposed to be a comfortable sunset drive at the end of our tour, an encounter with the Big Five was not very probable. ‘Expect some nature – everything else is a luxury' our Guide Thula told us regularly throughout our tour...”
