“Stuck! – Now it did actually happen. We had already passed at least 2 000 water holes: small ones, deep ones, big ones, stony ones, wrinkled ones. Sometimes some water seeped into the car. Sometimes we got frightened when the vehicle suddenly dropped half a meter. Sometimes we moaned after driving through yet another pot hole – with or without any water in it.

We especially didn’t expect anything like this to happen today. This will be about a journey to a mountain. It’s called Oldonyo Lengai, Mountain of God. So this is a journey to the mountain of god. Sounds pretty impressive. Actually it’s like no other journey on earth, not only because Lengai is an active volcano called God with an almost perfect cone, but because if where it is – in the Great Rift Valley, Northern Tanzania.
